A Flourishing Triumph: Sustainable
Hanging Baskets Soon to Shine Again

Hebden Royd will soon be looking lovely again courtesy of beautiful hanging baskets which will once more be gracing the frontages of over 100 locations across Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd. HRTC have now opened the ordering window for businesses and organisations, and will be taking orders up until the end of April.

The baskets costing £55 each come complete with wrap-around care to keep them looking their absolute best, with no maintenance required. The comprehensive package includes a hanging bracket and safety audit, basket installation, ongoing watering and feeding to maintain vibrant blooms throughout the summer, and public liability insurance. Removal of the baskets at the end of their blooming cycle is also part of the package, streamlining the experience for participants.

The installation of the baskets commences in early June and will bring with it a kaleidoscope of colour to the streets, welcoming visitors and residents alike. Planted with an array of key pollinator species, when the baskets begin to blossom they will attracting bees, moths and other flying insects. In addition to the baskets brightening up shop fronts, Hebden Royd Town Council will also be installing over 60 lamp post baskets in key locations between Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd, and a further 40 baskets along Bridge Gate/St Georges Square, to showcase Hebden Royd.

For the past 9 years, local supplier Gardenius Nurseries of Ogden Halifax has provided the hanging baskets, and once again, there will be a complete absence of peat in the mix, aligning with the Council's dedication to environmental stewardship. By opting for peat-free alternatives, HRTC is taking a meaningful step towards reducing carbon emissions and preserving vital ecosystems. Moreover, an innovative reservoir design within each basket will ensure efficient watering, and minimising water waste. Consideration has also been given to the entire lifecycle of the baskets, with the expired plants sustainably composted at the end of the season.

We hope that many local businesses and organisations will again support the hanging basket programme. As always, the duration of the displays will depend on weather conditions, with removal planned for early October. This ensures residents and visitors can enjoy the floral displays for a long as possible throughout the summer and into early autumn.
